Known by her middle name Kathleen, this CWAC corporal enlisted much later in life than the typical recruit. Throughout her life, she had worked at a Merchant’s Bank and registered jewellery at a Birk’s store before training as a nurse. She subsequently worked at a Shriner’s Hospital for disabled children, at a nursing home, and as a nurse-companion before her enlistment.

She had previously had breast cancer in 1941, and her left breast was removed. In November of 1943, a medical examination revealed a lump in the right breast. She was declared medically unfit and discharged from the army that December. She died two years later of widespread secondary cancer.
