Margaret Victoria Hart was killed in a motorcycle accident on the way back to base after visiting her mother with her boyfriend. A very popular woman in her unit, her funeral was attended by many service women and men. Her distraught mother sent many letters trying to retrieve lost personal items and correspondence, which was not unusual for grieving parents. Her friends knew her as Margo.

Sgt Mowbray, the motorcycle driver, was actually on duty during the visit and at the time of the accident and “was not authorized to stop off at any other place other than for duty reasons, except for a half hour break which he might take for late supper. He was not authorized to take passengers on the back of his motorcycle.”
